This place still live and wildin'? ??? ??? ???
-
you know it. are you one of those georgedrome people who got really into white boy rap
-
you know it. are you one of those georgedrome people who got really into llsd and freebies
-
no i dont know what any of that is, and im not totally sure if i ever posted there or not. im the artist formerly known as frenchies
-
What even was the Georgedrome? Was that from the time when YMM had a separate forum from the HC, and they spun it off into a side thing after he murdered his forum for the hundredth time?
-
georgedrome's story sounds like chaos, I joined back there around 2014-2015 so I wouldn't know :P
Anyway, hubol = frenchies, the person who voiced LongBeach npc Kurstyn??
-
Also AUS discord is a thingy now, gimme a jingle if you want an invite
-

Georgedrome still exists technically. it's like 5 people posting in a single thread but it's there i guess.
i also got a GD discord with some of the main peeps on it ("main" meaning my favorites and the cutest) but that's not very active either. don't got the georgey himself on it either, no idea where he went.
-
ye want an AUs discord invite??
-
hey there TheGucc..... sorry i dont know who you are i was never a georgedromer. did you ever post on the mmgf or anything
-

i dont know who voiced the girl bird (mightve been matts girlfriend at the time, "yup"?) but hubol was probably best known on the mmgf for his aus knockoff game "craz'd":
if u remember that it has a much better sequel now called "2", u should check it out: http://www.hubolhubolhubol.com/index.php?id=2

-
hey there animeaina
Yes, I am aware of craz'd and craz'd 2, plus I remember seeing (I can't remember where) That kurstyn was voiced by someone with the username "frenchies222".
Nah, I didn't post on that forum or anything older than that. It was already dead by the time I got into the fangameness
-
Kurstyn/yup voiced the bird. No relation to Frenchies except I think he started calling the bird Kurstyn after that.
-
chu your name is so close to a palindrome
-
yes i started calling the birds kurstyn and byrd... my greatest contribution
-
gucci what exactly happens in the aus discord. do you just reflect on your experience with the 2007 matt thomspon hit "Untitled Storeys"?
-
well uh many things
one thing being the great discussion of fish species, other than that yea general AUS stuff. At this point its mainly fangames tho :P
-
btw is there any way I can contact FinalBoss? i wish to learn from his AUSEP expertise
-
He renamed himself Kaynato. His email is listed on a previous forum incarnation. I'll PM it to you, but no promises it's still active.
-
wow ausep is quite a throwback
-
wow ausep is quite a throwback
god what a clusterfuck that project was. while i was never personally involved in it looking at the planned map screen gave me a sense of dread
-
As the former democratically-elected leader of the AUSEP project project, I insist that the project failed only due to lack of funding and marketing. Everything else was solid.
-
the idea of a massive collaboration in game maker 7 is pretty hilarious. i wonder if theyve hacked in working version control in game maker nusty edition

your vocabulary transcends human knowledge
-
at this point in time i think i just want to try and suffer less. thanks for your interest though. not sure what """expertise""" i can really offer.
-
Well, the level design and bgs drawing for unfair and largefort for one thing. How are they both so god damn good? Who drew the bgs? Who had the boss ideas etc
-
tbh drawing good bgs in untitled's style is not too difficult? it's really free-form. i remember i made a couple but i dont remember if it was for anything that got put into ausep. level design is another thing tho lol
-
I guess the main part of bgs drawing that's hard is choosing the right colors for the right atmosphere
-
Giik, you used to make MIDIs for AUOS, right? Would you be able to share some?
-
Not that I can recall, no. At most I might've assisted ethan with some. Even then, so much time has passed that anywhere they would've been stored has been lost.
-
Dang, what a bummer.
At this point I'm just reinstating questions I've had for AUoS and AUSEP.
In fact, I swear I saw a version of AUSEP that had old drawings for ocean and had some obscure file type that wouldn't allow me to open it. It was called AnUntitledStoryEP4. I know barely anyone from the original AUSEP crew is here, but does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Also, what was the deal with An Untitled Tale? Did it really ever "take flight"? Is there still remnants of the project?
-
nope.
-
hmm seems like its about time for a new cutey zone aus community project.....
-
hey the gucc are you aware that someone is still working on ausep? heres the latest progress video & the download link for the latest version

-
The name zario sounds somewhat familiar.
-
yeha i think zario was an hc member at some point or maybe just an mmgf member? dont rememb......
-
Yes, I am aware zario is working on AUSEP
-
lollllll that brief view of the AUSEP notes ~5:30 in that video.....
pretty cool that someone is still interested in doing this
-
Hell, at one point he even joined the aus discord, which he left, probably because he didn't want too much traffic while making ausep at the same time.
-
Hey Giik, is it cool if I upload the AUoS soundtrack to YouTube?
Me and my pals actually decompiled it and Ethan didn't really seem to mind
-

uh
go ahead
-
TheGucc will the expansion project feature a boss fight with TheGucc? naming convention checks out
-
of course
Giik and Gucc
not the best duo

Just gonna leave this here

hmm seems like its about time for a new cutey zone aus community project.....
I'd weirdly be down for that lmao. AUS need more fangames
-
Nother' AUSEP question:
I swear there was a forum similar to cutey zone or was cutey zone where somebody made a troll version of AUSEP with only like 2 rooms. It had ducks... Lots and lots of ducks. If anyone know what am takin bout pls message me
thank
-
its probably this (from the cutey archives exclusive to premium members}
the link is broken tho
-
Ah yes, that's absolutely it!
Bummer the link is broken :(. Did anyone archive the file itself?
-
i am the aus man
i ask questions about aus
how come everything for AUT was lost???
-
it is very easy for small indie games to be lost because almost nobody cares enough to archive and preserve them. even some of my own old games are probably gone forever. if the game in question was never released then it is even easier for it to be lost
-
what is the relationship between AUT and AUSEP
-
i wouldn't know because the MMG forums decided to do a die
hence why am asking all these questions
another question. Would y'all happen to have every AUSEP version available to download?????
-
is web archive mmgf not around
-
only vaguely. Wayback machine has only provided the forum itself, not any threads or anything. Sadly no downloads or bgs :( :( :(
-
shucks.....
-
yeah, real shame noone did an archive
-
f'real, we didn't even do that many backgrounds. a lot of it was just overambitious brainstorming without any real way to do it.
there was like, ONE engine test before the programmer fucked off to who knows where.
-
oh yeah, didn't cha say he went into depression or some jazz?
otherwise, I swaer you said on the other forums that you guys drew like 150+ bgs
-
anyone got the drop on who drawn highjump??
-
tbh drawing good bgs in untitled's style is not too difficult? it's really free-form. i remember i made a couple but i dont remember if it was for anything that got put into ausep. level design is another thing tho lol
dcco, am I rite when I say you are dedelruf and you drawn HighJump??
-
Oh geez there's a Giik and a Gucc.
-
no dcco also known as ducko is not dedelruf, im not sure if ducko worked on ausep but i think he was the first person to beat the game on insanity so thats a cool untitled fact you can add to your spreadsheet
-
from what i gathered it didnt seem like dcco was that into ausep
-
anyone here play cup head? dont answer that question because i already know people here played it. anyways i bought it about 7 hours ago and i just beat it. pretty good game not sure if ill do expert or s-ranks or whatever
-
yes, giik and gucc, the dynamic duo sort of
is dedelruf even on this forum ??? ??? ???
-
more importantly, who even drew highjump ??? ???
-
MOST IMPORTANTLY HO W DO YOU PRONOUNCE DEDELRUF??????????
DE - DELL - RUFF?!?!?! DEE - DILL - RUFF?!?!?!
Jasdhasidhahdwehuidhfduisuajsdisokaskeleton
-
i did s-ranks for the devil and the robot and i wanted to s-rank all of them since those were pretty much the hardest ones but i got bored but it was good imo
-
dcco what ausep stuff did you do sudjfmidkqndhtnrkfrksjfnsnsjfasdf
-
juner is you dedelruf?????
-
i always thought dedelruf was one of the random mmgfers
i dont think i worked on ausep. i was going to draw some of the late game backgrounds but i didnt want to in the end
https://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/89p1uj/wr_cat_planet_any_no_oob_238617/
-
those were the days though..... lmao it's weird to think that when i first joined the mmgf i was in high school. now im in grad school......... i sure had a lot of free time.
-
can confirm i'm not dedelruf
-
as such, the hunt for dedelruf continues...
-
dedelruf...furledel...fur ladle
Johnny, your mother is being held at the golf course
-
pretty sure dedelruf isnt here, after the cataclysm most mmgfers fled to the georgedrome rather than helixc (the precursor of the cuteyzone)
-
i think i might be dedelruf?????? :o
-
the darn guy didn't even leave any email or anything, just an enima
darn i wanted to ask ausep stuffs
-
just an enema
yeah sorry gucci i dont think most cuteyzoners were stoked about ausep
-
darn g button being a fool
understandable
-
what im wondering is whens someone going to show up really curious about the development history of the Jumper Community Project
-
what was that like
-
originally it was going to consist of a remake of j1 & j2 with worse physics, along with bunch of new content called the Special Game. but matt didnt find out about the remake part until we had already done a huge chunk of it and then he told us he didnt want us using his level designs, so we had to scrap all of it. i think barely anything of the special game was ever finished except for a pretty nonsensical intro cutscene and a sector called "The Hole". there was also an extremely bloated and laggy level editor whose main feature was having lots of different kinds of doors, like u know how j2 had switch doors, electric doors, and star doors..... well what if there was a door for every possible variable you can think of as well as a corresponding "anti-door" that behaves in the opposite way? thats the kind of question the jcp set out to answer. eventually people just kinda lost interest in it and it died
heres a pic of the secret members-only development forums.....

-
ausep vs jumper project
hmm who win
-
lol didnt want you using his level designs, thats cool
i like how the thought process behind doors was to make a million different versions instead of making a single one with a bunch of configurable properties
-
You've neglected to mention the best thing to come out of the JCP. (http://vgperson.com/other/DBSBossTheme.mid)
A lot of Special Game was "planned," but not made, because naturally that's the sort of project it was. There were like 13 sectors, or maybe 14 since there was a split path at one point. Most of the sectors had nonsense bosses. I have a text file with cutscene descriptions like this:
Ogmo walks into a room made of golden blocks. There's a pile of gold blocks in the corner blocking the exit. Ogmo wall jumps on the blocks, but they don't break. "HALT! WHO IS THIS FOOLISH MORTAL WHO DARES DISTURB THIS TOMB?!" Ogmo jumps and backs away, shaking. The Guardian comes from off the right side of the screen. "AH... IT IS YOU, OGMO. I HAD A FEELING YOU WOULD COME HERE. BUT YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE TOO MUCH DAMAGE TO MY MASTER'S PLANS... IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT YOU SHOULD BE STOPPED!"
Also the final boss was The Boss's Ghost but there was a secret ending for getting all the gems where you met the True Mastermind (represented by a black circle) that Dabomstew came up with but didn't tell anyone what it was actually supposed to be, and also I think we were going to add Dim dimension-switching.
making a single one with a bunch of configurable properties
You are seriously overestimating our past coding abilities.

wow nice u still have the classic dabomstew boss midi...... theres a big music thread on the jcp forums with links to a bunch of midis but theyre all hosted on your old "5gigs" site or on "Microtech"
the music list does have sector names though......
Sector 1 (The Ice Cave)
Sector 2 (The Volcano)
Sector 3 (The Beach)
Sector 4 (The Ocean)
Sector 5 (The Underwater Base)
Sector 6 (The Space Ship)
Sector 7 (The Moon)

Sector 12 Boss (Guardian)
The Boss's Ghost
Secret Boss

yes thats exactly what it is. to avoid merge conflicts people were supposed to post in the thread that they were editing the gmd so nobody else would edit it at the same time
-
You've neglected to mention the best thing to come out of the JCP. (http://vgperson.com/other/DBSBossTheme.mid)
i had to test to make sure my media player's midi synth was working properly after hearing this :-X (it was working perfectly fine)

threats are obviously the best way to do game dialog. that was my takeaway from aus
-
oh wait actually it seems there was a separate thread (the "info center") which was regularly (?) updated with the current person who is editing, so u had to check that to see if the gmd was free for editing.....
-
sounds convenient
-
The project had the mantra of "Ignore bugs and go add some new content".
For some reason it was extremely buggy??
-
For some reason it was extremely buggy??
thought this was referring to joogle

it probably applies to most games made by teens tbh

do anybody have those midi"????????
-
vgperson might.....
if not your best bet is to download the old demo (http://vgperson.com/games/JCPresent.zip (http://vgperson.com/games/JCPresent.zip)) and do one of the following:
- run it through a gm decompiler and get the midis from the gmd/gm6/gmk/whatever file
- run the game, then go to Appdata/Local/Temp under your user folder and look for a folder called gm_ttt_something (if there are multiple then look for the most recently modified one). it should contain all the sound files from the demo, they wont have nice names tho
-
i dont even have all decompilers
nice
-
I have the last version of the game, so I extracted the Special Game MIDIs. (http://vgperson.com/other/JCPMusic.zip) Though I want to say there were some non-MIDI songs that I may have had, but can't seem to find. Still, there's a full Special Game soundtrack... with some very direct theme repetition... and Sector 8's music is literally Sector 7's again.
Other notes: Jumper 2's final boss and ending themes, being original compositions not included with the J2 source, were replaced with the Final Fantasy 3 (NES) boss music and the Zelda 1 ending music respectively. The main menu music is "Intro Theme from Crash Bandicoot N-Tranced," which I don't think I ever knew. And the editor music is Team Magma/Aqua Hideout from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire.
EDIT: I found a thing with original filenames, so I added who composed what for most of them.
(Yes, for some reason me7356 is credited in the filename for Sector 8 but not 7 despite it being exactly the same file.)
-
Okay, I also found the real deal: all the music ever made for the JCP (http://vgperson.com/other/JCPUnusedMusic.zip), which also has indications of what the composers had in mind with each song.
Witness all three versions of a song I titled "Probably Finished"! Heed my warnings for me7356's incredibly loud music! Listen to the original Temple Boss Theme before Dabomstew made it a true classic! And also a bunch of limp remixes of actual songs from Jumper.
-
wow sweet i will definitely check out these hot midis once i install a music player on my new computer......
-
aint that neat
hey, i know it sounds a bit scummy but,
can i use those for adls??
-
gucci i dont think anyone is going to get upset about you using 10 year old midis from an unfinished fan community project. if you care that much then credit the songs to the appropriate people and your local cutey archivist vgperson
-
if you wanna use random peoples midis without asking them, a good source for original midis is: https://www.purezc.net/index.php?page=music&type=MIDI&sort=title&sortdir=A-Z
i think we stole a couple of purezc midis for joogle
-
the reason i ask is bc our team has a pretty strict rule on not using midis other than one's we've made, except for the fact that ours are trash lmaoxd
except for Rare Pickle and maybe RSK
-
this must be the least strict "pretty strict" rule ever
-
hey i found this hot link for "An Unofficial Story" on the cutey archive and it actually isnt broken http://www.mediafire.com/file/vco1zdabhhb69sj/AnUnofficialStory_V0_16.zip
