a little while ago i had discovered on discord that a few people had been working on a little fangame called, let's say "A Titled Story".
Yea, well, the project died. No one could code for wack.
just postin this here bc i thought stuff looked cool and I pray this sorta thing dont happen to adls

actually i think i like the idea of exploring a bunch of maps that were just drawn aimlessly without thinking about "gameplay structure" better than ones that were more thought out..... like weird stream of consciousness game design is more exciting to me than a competent but standard imitation of matts design style
as long as they didnt compensate for the lack of level design planning by just making every room obnoxiously hard & full of garbage

i think aus fan game developers should try this challenge: make a complete fangame with a 5x5 map. 25 screens, you can pack as much shit as you want in em but thats all you get
if you succeed then youve made a fun little mini game that aus fans can actually play and enjoy, and you can go on and start your 40 area monsterpiece with more confidence

Sounds too easy, not even worth the time. What if we add dimension switching so there are forty 5x5 areas layered on top of one another??

ice castle was always my favourite area.
i love the aesthetic and the music. the synthesised marimba sounds surprisingly good with game maker 7's reverb and chorus effects.
it's not a hard area but it's great fun with lots of heart gates and secrets.
the boss is cool, i just wish it was a little more challenging. i remember watching raocow's playthrough when he thought it might start a second phase. that would've been fun. i mean, it's a super lategame area, you have to get through the curtain to get there anyway, so you usually have 800+ health.
that reminds me. in an unofficial story there was this area called magmacavern, it had amazing music. probably one of the best midis i've ever heard. ironic because that area was short and didn't even have a boss. is that an original midi or was it from another game? i actually decompiled it to try and find what it was from, but the file was named something non-descriptive so that didn't help. though i found the music for the snow area (it was blade mountain from pac man world 2) so it wasn't a complete waste of time.
i hope i didn't ramble too much.

also uhh i know this isnt exactly legal but does anyone have a copy of game maker 7
when i try importing aus into game maker 8 i get lots of ugly not very nice errors. you can't buy or torrent gm7 from anywhere, so i'm kind of stuck.

i know that feel with magmacavern tho, I've been digging in the latest AUoS version and forums and apparently there was supposed to be another lava area, with raising lava & bosses. Possibly an extension of MagmaCavern?

ghoul maker seven is the pro version. unfortunately whatever was used to remove the drm resulted in some of the text disappearing in the object editor
