I'm feeling kind of stuck right now, but it'll probably take a while for people to get this far. Although I don't feel like I've actually particularly solved any difficult puzzles yet.
Two bosses down and I've mapped out a bunch of areas near-fully, yet don't see how to make progress, short of one miniboss I'm pretty sure I can postpone until it's less annoying, and another that seems maybe too hard (or actually, I'm not sure if I can damage them yet). I'm most curious about where to get the ability to push boxes and the thing to recite mantras. Because I've got a lot of notes about boxes that need pushing.
EDIT: Okay, found the item to push blocks, so I'll probably be good for a while. Turns out a puzzle needed less than I thought.
Re: one of Sylvie's spoilers:
Uhhh, is "1000 new areas" a wild exaggeration, because it's only one for me...?? [sp](Shrine of the Frost Giants with a miniboss fight)[/sp] I was thinking it might change as you defeat more bosses, but I think it's been the same for me at 1, 2, and 3 bosses defeated.
EDIT: Ohhh. Okay, I probably would have never thought of that.
And a vague progress report:
I've made a bunch more progress, but am constantly having situations where it seems like a lot is gated behind one thing, then I get the thing, but not much actually comes of it. Chances are I keep passing up puzzles I'm supposed to solve right away, I guess.
re: re: my spoiler.....
i noped out of the frosty area immediately because i was almost dead, and the corridor was rotated in a different direction when i exited, and instead of leading back to valhalla, the opposite exit lead to a completely different area. which i also exited pretty fast, then the same thing repeated (corridor rotated in a different direction, new area) and then i think i died in that new area and stopped playing for the night. did you warp out of the frost giant area each time or something? if not i wonder whats going on there....
Yeah, I figured it out now. I always died or warped out. There's really not much reason to manually take the gate back, and I haven't noticed any hints indicating something like that was up.
just beat a second boss (the [sp]valhalla[/sp] one....)
well. i guess i was supposed to just get the scalesphere instead of killing the battlefield fish miniboss with the 200 dollar pistol
because of the thing with the grail tablet being different and just the general vibe i was expecting valhalla to be an area you come back to and solve later....
In response to Sylvie:
Yeah, I killed that miniboss before Scalesphere using caltrops and thought nothing of it. Some water and lava is definitely "endurable enough" without the items that fully protect you, though fighting underwater without equipment would probably be hard.
Also, yesterday I finally found a thing or two I was desperately needing, thanks to a mechanic I sort of only figured out on accident. If anyone is struggling (specifically, if you need [sp]the Birth Seal (number 2)[/sp]), here's a hint so you don't get as annoyed as I was:
You don't need anything special to get past piles of snow.
(Although now that I think about it, there's a slight chance a certain item I have did have an impact: [sp]the Anchor.[/sp] But I doubt it.)
Yeah, I overlooked that one for a while. I triggered the trap by looking at it for too long, then assumed it was just a block puzzle where I then had to carefully approach the open chest without looking at it too much. I know they must've put the block there to immediately demonstrate what the gloves do, but I either didn't notice - or thought there was a trick to the fact - that there was no visible place for the block to go.
this one room in [sp]annwfn[/sp].....
its called the "feathercross room" on the map but you can actually do it without the feather if you are cool and skilled like me..... the reward is uhh not worth the trouble though
anyways ive got three bosses down and i thought i was stuck but then i found the [sp]life sigil[/sp] so now i have to try to remember all the places you can use that. wish i took better notes
wow for once one of my dumb sequence break attempts paid off....
i damage boosted up to a chest i couldnt figure out how to reach otherwise and it contained [sp]the double jump item[/sp] ???
Re: Sylvie:
How did you do that, exactly? (And do you mean the chest, or the pot?) Because I also tried hitting the pot for a while without it.
I started making maps in Excel pretty early on so I could write notes on any room square, and I'm really glad I did. Making note of things like sigils to come back to once you get them is especially important.
Also, yep! I did the same thing to get the feather. It's too easy not to. I believe what you're supposed to do to reach the top side is make it all the way through the Corridor of Blood, but uhhhhh
My vague progress report:
Pretty significant. (6 bosses! And full health!) Though there's a certain thing I've started seeing later on, and I'm wondering if I should know what to do about it yet or not...
Re: Sylvie:

i got the chest. you can destroy the upper-left thing hiding the sigil with the whip & some awkward jumps as i discovered by accident. then destroy the pot with the flare gun, then use the gale fibula in the room to the right and do some really precise jumps.... it was cool but u just get a damn orb
also hmm i dont even know how to get through the corridor of blood because at one point it rotates vertically and you have to climb up to reach the next door ??? i think there was a hint somewhere implying [sp]you can force it to rotate yourself somehow[/sp] but i havent figured out how..... if u know dont tell me
Sure. The situation may be a little less straightforward depending on what else you've done, however, so I put that under Conditional Hints.
Hint 1: It's in the Gate of the Dead.
Hint 2: [sp]You need to do something in another area to make the puzzle solvable.[/sp]
Hint 3: [sp]The name of that room in Gate of the Dead is a hint.[/sp]
Hint 4: [sp]The other area you need to visit is Divine Fortress.[/sp]
Conditional Hint: [sp]If the one who should help isn't being helpful, there's another thing you need to do with them first.[/sp]
Conditional Hint Followup: [sp]The other thing they do involves Divine Fortress, but also Annwfn.[/sp]
Conditional Hint Final: [sp]Have you tried to fight Annwfn's guardian?[/sp]
re: vg
okay, your hints seem to confirm my assumption that getting the anchor involves doing something with the blacksmiths in the divine fortress, but i have no idea what to do there. apparently there are two brothers but i can only speak to one of them (even if i activate the rotatey thing, he is in both houses??) and he just says "get out!" i already did the ship thing and beat annwfn's guardian which i assume is what your conditional hints are about
Hmm, that's odd. After you get the folded ship, you should be able to visit one of the brothers again (there are in fact two who look identical except for the character on their heads, and I think it's just one who's helpful, while the other is always a jerk). He'll be like "the ship reminded me, but there was something helpful lying around in my room, so I'll let you open the chest." This makes it so [sp]there is a block in that Gate of the Dead room[/sp]. And I'm pretty sure he still says that line to me now, long after I got the Anchor.
is the other brother supposed to appear when you flip the door with a weight? i definitely get brokkr in both doors with the exact same name and dialogue (and forehead character).....
Steam, and ReadMe_EN only mentions 1.0.0.1.
Eitri still gives me the Anchor message. Brokkr tells me to get out. When Eitri is on top, the weight pedestal to swap them is on the left. When Brokkr is on top, it's on the right.
If it is a bug, I guess you could send your save and I could do the thing for you? Who knows.
ah it works in the steam version... cant believe i ran into a genuine bug instead of it just being a trigger i missed or something
heres an explanation of the bug (minor spoilers for an early game area that you get access to after like the first boss):
in the divine fortress there is a place with two doors and a mechanism that swaps them. the doors are supposed to lead to different npcs (though they look very similar). if you get the same npc twice, you are affected by the bug and should switch to the steam version (maybe redownloading the playism version will also work)
ok i think i am stucky.... :(
i have beaten three bosses (from the following areas: [sp]roots of yggdrasil, valhalla, annwfn[/sp]) and explored a ton of areas but i think i am running out of ideas....
heres my item situation (screenshot)
heres a list of where ive been to and stuff i still dont understand how to do in each area
roots of yggdrasil: i think ive cleared out this place pretty well except for the golden rock puzzle. [sp]i can make a platform appear with the earth mantra but the rock breaks the platform. i have a note about needing the "mark of life" so maybe i need the life mantra (if that exists) or some special item?[/sp]
annwfn: cant think of anything left to do here except figure out whats the deal with the creature sitting near the immortal battlefield entrance
immortal battlefield: in the very bottom right area [sp](that you enter from icefire)[/sp] there is a seal i cannot seem to reach. there is a thing in the area where you fight ratatoskr that i need the [sp]ancient cog[/sp] for, and i am guessing that will lead me to the chest across the big gap that i currently cannot reach. i have the [sp]pochette key[/sp] but i dont know what to do with it, im currently assuming it will make sense once i find the ankh
icefire treetop: there is a room on the map underneath the "poison lava" section that i cant figure out how to reach. i cant figure out how to access the hot springs. there is a room that near-instantly kills me with poison which i assume i will understand later (maybe related to accessing the "underworld"?)
divine fortress: in the upper section there is a giant golden cup and a rotating wheel thing below it. i think the rotating wheel [sp]represents the different "ages" referred to on some tablets, like the gold age, silver age, etc. i have the names of four of the ages but i have no idea what to do with this information[/sp]. no idea what the cup is for yet
shrine of the frost giants: a lot of this area is still inaccessible to me but i feel like i have done everything i can with the items i have, and the inaccessible parts look like they require finding different entrances. also i havent tried in a bit but i dont think i can damage the miniboss that you can reach from the corridor of blood
gate of the dead: i feel like i am completely done with this area, i explored the whole map, found the four pedestals, opened all the chests i know of iirc
heavens labyrinth: i just got here via icefire and i cant find much to do, i got a couple chests which iirc didnt have anything major in them. there are places that look like room entrances that have been walled off, so maybe there is a way to open those that i need to find? the point of the area seems to be to kill four minibosses but i havent found a single one (i found the room of glasya-labolas, but the miniboss wasnt there). i found a statue of twins holding a chest [sp]which probably has the ancient cog?[/sp] but i need an item i dont have yet to open it. i found someone who wants a [sp]harp, but the harp costs 1000 and i can only hold 999 golds right now[/sp]
valhalla: there is a laser i cannot get past in the upper right. there is a chest i cannot figure out how to open [sp]underneath the true throne. the weight just opens up a mysterious empty space in the wall[/sp]
dark lords mausoleum: cannot get into the pyramid or defeat the frog miniboss, i think i need to beat the guardian of immortal battlefield to get the item that will let me do this. i dont think i can currently solve the [sp]trace the dark lords footsteps puzzle, i found what i assume is the dark lord in one room and he zoomed off but i cant find the second room, and i dont even know if i have enough mantras anyways (i have heaven, sun, moon, earth, fire)[/sp]
takamagahara shrine: i got the [sp]egg of creation[/sp], but that seems like the only important item i can access from the immortal battlefield entrance, and i dont know what to do with it yet. there is a chest in the second room that i think i need to find an alternate entrance to open
ancient chaos (via corridor of blood): iirc i need like 6 bosses down or something to enter the gate here
hall of malice (via corridor of blood): explored here but couldnt do anything, i think a tablet suggested i need the [sp]ancient cog[/sp]. i cannot figure out how to get further than hall of malice in the corridor of blood
Some leads for Sylvie:
Shrine of the Frost Giants: [sp]You can in fact defeat the miniboss accessed from Corridor of Blood.[/sp]
Heaven's Labyrinth: [sp]There's something you can do to affect the area. You'll also need to do something else to activate certain things in the area. Both of these you can do right now. I should note that the event related to the latter seems a bit finicky, so if you think you're doing the right thing, you probably are - try messing around with stuff and changing rooms until it triggers.[/sp]
Dark Lord's Mausoleum: [sp]It looks imposing, but you can solve the Dark Lord's Footprints puzzle currently, provided you've found the five footprint rooms. It might not do much for you, though - I can't remember if it's even done anything for me yet.[/sp]
Ancient Chaos: [sp]It's only a 5-boss gate. But even if it was 6, I'm not sure it makes much difference, as I'm at 6 and haven't been able to do much there.[/sp]
About the cog: [sp]Yes, it is in the snake twins chest. It's fairly important, but the process of getting it is probably the most involved puzzle I've had to do yet, with several steps to it. You're not quite able to do it fully yet.[/sp]
ahhhh i totally could have figured out how to do stuff in [sp]heavens labyrinth[/sp] if i was more patient.....
i thought the "celestial disk" was going to be in a later part of the area but its right damn there and it even says so on the map screen -_- i was imagining it as actually having pictures of celestial bodies on it or something
thanx......
wow i think i completely misinterpreted the [sp]dark lord's footprint[/sp] puzzle.....
i just noticed that the weird room in roots of yggdrasil with the big tiled walls is called "dark lord's footprint" on the map :0 i assumed those rooms would be for like an endgame puzzle or something.... i was thinking that tracing the footprints was something that you do entirely within the mausoleum....
i recommend making a habit of checking the room name on the in-game map in *every room* (or at least every vaguely interesting room) once you have it. it would have prevented me from getting stuck like i did earlier, and just now its helped me understand another puzzle better. i dont know why i wasnt paying close attention to this earlier considering the type of game this is
im going to make detailed maps of each area in a spreadsheet like vg said she is doing in one of her spoilers, so i probably wont be making progress for a while....
im tempted to ask for a hint again..... i dont know i wanna figure stuff out myself but my progress has just lead to a bunch of new dead ends.... im not done mappin so maybe something will come up there
i beat the four minibosses in heavens labyrinth and opened the gate to reach.... an area in the hall of malice that ive already been to?? is defeating the minibosses supposed to do something actually useful that i missed?
i figured out that miniboss in the shrine of the frost giants but i hit a dead end there pretty quickly (blocked by a giant ice block)
in icefire treetop i got access to the hot springs, which lets me enter the poison gas room without dying (weird but ok) i have a hint which i *thought* was telling me to use the sun+moon mantra in the midst of the poison gas to open the underworld gate, but i tried that and it does nothing
i investigated the corridor of blood now that i know how to rotate it, but that didnt lead to any new areas. an npc told me there are six gates but i have only found five areas. there is one particular orientation of the corridor that just leads to a dead end instead of a gate though....
i got the [sp]snow shoes[/sp] from [sp]mulbruk[/sp] but i dont think that opens anything
i still have no idea how to access the next guardian, i feel like it will be in the immortal battlefield but i dont know how to make the ankh appear there. i found [sp]a seal in a breakable wall that i missed, which let me get to the other side of the spiral boat[/sp], but still no ankh
Heaven's Labyrinth: [sp]The second gate to Malice may seem superfluous, but it does have a use which will become apparent later. I'm not yet sure if beating the minibosses does anything beyond that, though. I guess they do give you some nice but non-essential items.[/sp]
Shrine of the Frost Giants: [sp]If you got stuck like a screen or two after the miniboss from Corridor of Blood, mess around there some more. If you got further than that, then maybe look through your notes for mantras.[/sp]
General: [sp]There's an NPC who tells you about a mantra combination and a certain seal. It should be useful to you right around now.[/sp]
i think i have either not found the npc you are talking about, or i only talked to them once or something and didnt see the dialogue you are referring to. i dont have any notes about mantras that seem relevant to the frosty area
i will see if this npc turns up in the mapping process before i ask for more helps.....
i think i understand what happened but its kinda stupid
when you first get to the dark lords mausoleum, you meet ra in a room and he says something about needing to absorb more people and flies off towards the gate of the dead entrance (i thought he was just flying to another room in the mausoleum and was confused when i couldnt find him again). you are supposed to follow him to the gate of the dead to find the person he absorbed, then he flies back to the mausoleum and you find him in a formerly empty room there, which triggers the ankh
and it doesnt seem like you get anything useful from the fight -_- (unless it opens an extra gate for you, but i dont remember seeing a 4-boss gate anywhere)
-_- god i keep getting stuck on the stupidest things.... this time it was in [sp]taka shrine[/sp]
i completely overlooked [sp]the breakable wall that leads to the grail tablet and map[/sp], because iirc [sp]the knife does not reach low enough to break it, but the katana does, as i found out completely by accident[/sp]
[sp]i did not have the katana any of the previous times i explored the area because i kinda just.... forgot about the seal that unlocks it for a while, and i never thought of using spears or anything because i was expecting you had to find a different entrance to get there[/sp]
Well... I finally got to a boss... but I don't have any Ankh Jewels left...
Here are all the ones I made note of (there are two more from early on I'm not totally sure where I got): [sp]Icefire Treetop, Shrine of the Frost Giants, Dark Lord's Mausoleum, Eternal Prison.[/sp] And lastly, [sp]two from the shop in La-Mulana.[/sp]
So just to make sure, has anyone managed to get [sp]the trap Ankh Jewel on the left side of Eternal Battlefield? After all, I'm not sure I ever got one there. But there's also no guarantee there's one there at all, I think...[/sp]
EDIT: Actually, there's one single chest I haven't figured out how to open, in an area I haven't gotten an Ankh Jewel, which is probably just a basic puzzle. Let's hope!!
EDIT: It was!!!
have a question for vg....
i found the [sp]ancient chaos[/sp] entrance via [sp]taka shrine[/sp]and activated two of the [sp]anu prayer spots[/sp]. for the third, [sp]i need to lie down somehow. i tried pausing the game, which makes you do a lying down animation after a bit, but it didnt work??[/sp] can i solve this puzzle now and if i do, will it do anything useful?
i suspect i am going in the wrong direction because this has nothing to do with your general hint from earlier but i cant seem to find a place where your hint is useful.....
I FIGURED IT OUT IM IN THE PLACE
i did not bother taking notes on the few tablets in that small part of ancient chaos reached from the corridor of blood the first time i went there, because i was like, "this is late game stuff".... big mistake -_-
God I'm really close to the end here. But I can't tell if there's a real hint for where I need to go, or if I should have found it already?
You haven't stumbled upon [sp]the other side of the 9-boss gate on the Spiral Boat[/sp], have you?
I beat the game!!!!! Game Good
Vague stuff I missed:
There were two apps I never found (only one of which I have a hint for), I only found a single garb chest, and I have a bunch of missing glossary entries, but yeah. [sp]I'm also guessing there isn't actually a fifth sigil, since I got an achievement for filling out the item screen.[/sp]
re: garb
there is a weird colored chest hidden in [sp]modgud's room in icefire treetop[/sp], and when i revealed it i got a garb-related achievement i think.... however i have no idea how to open it (i tried bringing a key fairy there and it did nothing)
My Steam playtime is 55 hours, and my save time was just over 50. Between deaths and reloads to not waste resources and ruin searches where I didn't save, I guess that difference makes sense.
Some of the puzzles were definitely difficult even with all the hints (that endgame mystery I posted about [sp]only had one tablet that barely helped[/sp], the clues of [sp]the Cog puzzle[/sp] were tricky to put together, etc.). Sometimes I suffered for not making note of certain text. And some things I mostly came across by accident or trial and error. I think it's probably a similar difficulty to the La-Mulana remake.
I don't know anything about a Hell Temple equivalent at the moment, but I would guess there isn't one (yet) since they probably just wanted to get the game released.
About garb:
I didn't find that one. The one I found was pretty early on (in fact, I'm sure you came across it too, as it's very close to a mantra mural you definitely have), and I returned there much later, and it was open. So I guess some item must've opened them? It sounds like Kickstarter backers could get a file to put in the game directory that opens them immediately, though.
stuck in [sp]gloomy doomy.....[/sp]
i think i have explored every room on the map in both sections, so maybe im missing a secret room somewhere?
the two major things i have unlocked are bombs and the key fairy..... i used the key fairy to get bombs and i used bombs to get the [sp]mother mantra[/sp]. i have no notes on cool places to use them outside the area.... i tried throwing bombs at a lot of stuff and largely didnt find anything
i think i know how to open [sp]sakit's prison[/sp] but it is blocked by [sp]a giant vidofnir statue. i cannot damage vidofnir yet as far as i know[/sp]
i cannot figure out how to defeat the [sp]doppelganger. i tried a few things i thought were clever but they didnt work. im assuming for now it involves the seal in the room, which i dont have the sigil for yet[/sp]
in the upper left part of doom (one of the "svafa's gate" rooms) there is a mysterious mound and it looks like there is a room below it. i think this might be opened by the [sp]doppelganger room seal[/sp] but maybe its something else
i think i figured out the order for the [sp]gate puzzle[/sp] and a few of the tricks you need to do it, but i have no idea how to get from [sp]gate 5 to gate 6. maybe it will make sense when i actually do it, because i think i cannot start until i beat vidofnir[/sp]
my feeling is i cant solve any of these puzzles right now and i have to solve something i havent found yet first but i dont know where to look for that thing
oh i also found a mantra combo for the [sp]colossal dragon[/sp] but uhh i have no clue where that is. i swear that i saw some text that mentions it at some point but the mantra combo is the only related thing in my notes....
One big thing you're likely missing for the Underworld is [sp]a hidden room. Search the Water Carrier's Room in Doom.[/sp] However, I believe this won't do you any good without [sp]a certain key item, though you may already have it.[/sp]
You may or may not be able to beat the [sp]Doppelganger[/sp] right now, depending. There's at least one NPC and possibly also a tablet mentioning how to beat them, but it's a pretty logical solution anyway. To be specific about the "depending," but unavoidably giving away how to beat them: [sp]you have to have beaten Jormungandr.[/sp]
The "colossal dragon" [sp]is describing a certain symbol, one that appears fairly often.[/sp]
A hint about the above: [sp]Where?[/sp]
i dont get these riddles..... i solved one by accident?? and the only things i can think of for the other two didnt work. ive only thought about them for like 30 minutes though so ill give it more time
i solved the dragon puzzle with your hint but i dont get it at all. is the dragon [sp]the statues in taka shrine[/sp] or is it [sp]the symbol on the bottom right of some tablets, in particular the one in the room where you use the mantra[/sp] or something else? how was i supposed to know that area is the "neck"? did i miss a hint somewhere?
The riddles are pretty dumb. You probably have the right idea for one, you just have to do it in [sp]a specific other place, for no reason I can discern.[/sp] To narrow things down: [sp]All of them are done in rooms in the Underworld. You'll hear the puzzle-solved sound when you do them.[/sp]
The dragon puzzle is [sp]referring to the area symbols on the tablets and in the Glossary, yes. All the areas are meant to be vaguely shaped like those symbols (one hint toward this is text saying the two crows symbol in Divine Fortress "may represent the Divine Fortress itself"), so the few rooms stretching right in Takamagahara are naturally the dragon's neck. There are also hints about the "infernal beast" (Heaven's Labyrinth) being intertwined with the "colossal dragon," and I think those areas would line up if you put a full map together. I definitely didn't pick up on all of this myself at first.[/sp]
this puzzle is bumming me out....
i solved two riddles ([sp]the mantra one, and the one where you uhh enter a gate that leads to the midair gate in doom and the puzzle solved sound plays for some reason[/sp])
i cant figure out the third and im not even entirely sure which tablet the second one corresponds to....
already stuck again so im going to ask for my Hint of the Day.....
i dont know how to get from [sp]gate 5 to gate 6[/sp] in the [sp]underworld[/sp] because [sp]i lose my feather when i enter gate 5, which prevents me from double-jumping out of the place where the gate is[/sp]. i looked for fake/breakable walls in that area pretty extensively i think. i also tried [sp]entering from the opposite direction, but that just spits me out of the underworld[/sp]. maybe there is an [sp]alternate gate 5[/sp] hidden behind a wall in some other location? idk im strongly suspecting some kind of fake wall nonsense is behind this instead of anything remotely clever but maybe this game will prove me wrong
maybe i need to defeat [sp]the doppelganger[/sp] before doing this for some reason, but you said i need to [sp]defeat jormungandr first, and i have no idea how to activate the ankh there. can i really do that right now? i think the only hints ive seen for it just mention that you need the golden key, but ive tried holding that up all over the place and it does nothing. ive been assuming i need to do something else first, like open the dinosaur statue gates maybe[/sp]
the [sp]ancient cog[/sp] puzzle....
i thought it was pretty straightforward aside from the [sp]colossal dragon[/sp] part, but i dont think i wouldve figured that part out or even noticed the necessary stuff to figure it out in a billion years.... geez
like, i did notice that [sp]the map indicates a down-exit in that one room[/sp], so maybe i would have made the connection that [sp]the exit possibly leads to the twin statue[/sp], and MAYBE i would have eventually tried [sp]using the correct mantra combo in that room[/sp] on a whim, but i dont think i wouldve understood what was going on at all lol
uhhh (spoilers for [sp]shrine of the frost giants[/sp])
when you beat fenrir, a statue appears. is it supposed to just.... disappear at some later point
also, all this progress and i still dont know how to solve that puzzle in the [sp]underworld[/sp] lol. unless [sp]sakit[/sp] has something to do with it
The head statue disappearing is likely a bug, but it hopefully won't prevent you from doing what you need to do there.
Hint about the Underworld: [sp]Give some thought to the statue at the entrance to the Underworld (that is, from CoB).[/sp]
Another hint: [sp]You're nearing the End.[/sp]
am i supposed to use the [sp]giant's flute[/sp] on the head statue? using it in the area where it used to be didnt do anything....
Nope.
There should be a couple clues about [sp]who the head is, what you need to do, and what it can give you.[/sp]
maybe i forgot to write it down? the bits of stuff i have about [sp]the End[/sp] dont seem helpful
i noticed that [sp]the orbs on the statue look like they might represent moon phases maybe?? i dont have any notes about a moon phase puzzle....[/sp]
also, i think i found another garb chest.... [sp]in the part of ancient chaos reached from corridor of blood, break the bottom left block to reveal a yellow chest[/sp]. still dont know how to open any of these
You are onto something with the moon idea, but it's not really as complex as you might be thinking.
[sp]And I'm sure you're not Missing anything, either.[/sp]
Probably the last hint I should give: [sp]Who is that statue, anyway?[/sp]
EDIT: Actually, I just realized...
Some of these late-game puzzles won't fully make sense (or really, be logically solvable at all) if you lack a certain other thing. Is there still something mysterious about [sp]the Mantra app[/sp]? If so, think about another mystery you may be able to solve, perhaps with [sp]a recently-obtained item.[/sp]
uhhh
"who is that statue, anyway?" hraesvelgr, apparently?? i might have been able to get this puzzle if the statue even slightly resembled [sp]ratatoskr[/sp] lol
I think the two main things indicating who it is are the presence of Hraesvelgr's sigil in the Underworld, and Hraesvelgr's glossary entry, which I believe is [sp]hidden in the room above him.[/sp]
ah, if only i had read that [sp]glossary entry.....[/sp]
also i warped out with the grail to avoid dying and the miniboss didnt respawn -_-
near-endgame spoilers....
ah nutso..... i think i am missing some of the information i need to solve [sp]brahma's trial[/sp]
seems like it will be fun.... i hope i can do it without hints....
It's actually optional, I'm pretty sure, but it can be helpful. But yes, there are many pieces to it, and I had to track down some tablets I ignored.
looking at my List of Mysteries, i am feeling like the next thing i need to do is figure out [sp]how to get to Nibiru[/sp]....
maybe im missing something but i feel like this puzzle is kinda under-clued.... the only hint i have seen for the mantras i need is that "the words are hidden in footprints concealed by the dark lord" or something. my immediate thought was to try the mantra sequences given by the other symbols on the footprint murals, but i tried all three (as best as i could, i needed to substitute "sea" for "water" and "moon" for "night" in two of them) followed by holding up the pyramid crystal. i also tried the upside-down version of the normal footprint sequence. nothing happened for any of them and i dont know what else the hint could possibly mean. maybe i have the right idea and the last mantra im missing is "night"?
One of your ideas is right, so you must've made a mistake somewhere. The last mantra is "night" and you don't need it for this. Also, be sure you're using it in the right place; you should get zapped for incorrect answers.
missing exactly one [sp]crystal skull[/sp] :(
i have opened every chest i know of, and i think i have explored every non-hidden map square in all the areas i have found, so i guess it is probably in a hidden room or an area i havent reached.....
this is my List of Mysteries currently....
Where is the last Crystal Skull I'm missing?
What do I do on the Spiral Boat?
What exactly is the Alfr Seeress' Prophecy telling me to do, and when/where do I do it?
What do I do with Heimdall?
What do I do with the Yuga Rings? Where is the fourth ring (assuming there are four)?
Where is the tablet describing the "sacred text" appearing on one of the Yuga Rings?
What does the six-sided star of Eg-Lana mean?
oh i guess there are some other smaller mysteries.....
- where are the rest of the apps? i am missing a bunch (https://i.imgur.com/9xNaZuD.png).... the one mulbruk mentions that supposedly [sp]shows hidden rooms on the map[/sp] sounds nice....
- i have one slot missing on my item screen (other than the last sigil slot which [sp]vg said is probably unused[/sp]).... guessing its the reward for the [sp]brahma thing[/sp]
- how the heck do i open any of the garb chests.....
- what is the deal with the [sp]NIGORO room? last time i checked there is nothing in the doors, even if i equip the corresponding game[/sp]
If you solve the Brahma trial, your reward is, like I said, optional but helpful: [sp]a map which marks mantras and Crystal Skulls.[/sp]
Yuga Rings: [sp]There is no fourth ring (unless it's REALLY well-hidden), so you just have to use process of elimination. Mulbruk gave me a hint about what they do, but I wonder if she still will for you now - if she doesn't, I can tell you it.[/sp]
One skull you might be missing (the last one I got) is in a hidden room [sp]in Eternal Prison - Doom.[/sp] The best hint I can give about where to look without telling you is probably [sp]to consider the shape of the area, and the area's symbol.[/sp]
Xelpud should start giving you hints about where to find apps, though the hint for the one you want most isn't super helpful.
Among Mulbruk's app combination hints is one that's relevant to one of your mysteries.
It turns out garb chests are opened using "skeleton keys," which are apparently earned by getting achievements, or something along those lines. (I would guess even if you aren't on Steam, the objectives are still silently tracked.) The title screen seems to show how many keys you have in the bottom-right. I still don't have all of them.
this game is 2 hard for me..... got all the [sp]skulls[/sp] and now im stuck once again :(
i think i figured out what getting the [sp]skulls[/sp] does for me, but i dont know what to do with this [sp]excessive power.....[/sp]
i wanna do the [sp]brahma trial[/sp] just for fun, but [sp]i believe i am missing exactly one tablet of necessary information, and i dont wanna either look for it or do trial and error....[/sp]
also i saw the mulbruk hint about yuga rings at one point, but i didnt write it down and she wont give it again.... i dont remember it being a very useful hint but maybe seeing it again will help somehow
Hmm... your assessment of something might be wrong, but I'm not sure and don't want to spoil too much. You may want to read over the Skulls text again. If you're sure you used them properly and just don't know what to do from there, [sp]think about what else in the ruins has that kind of shape.[/sp]
Mulbruk's Yuga Ring hint: [sp]"So spikes pop up when you put a weight on them? No matter what? These resources say they won't pop up if you do it at the right time."[/sp] (I don't have the exact wording anymore, but at any rate, I think the wording is slightly misleading.)
And here's the Vedas Texts tablet, assumed based on your earlier post: [sp]"The Vedas Texts constitute a belief system. Some say they after death, we turn to water."[/sp]
thanks! i remember that tablet now but i didnt record it for some reason and i have no idea where it was
hmm, now that i have solved the trial.... i thought the [sp]master skull[/sp] was basically just telling me to [sp]go to the six-sided star[/sp], but it looks like [sp]the pattern is overlaid on a map of eg-lana. maybe it is identifying particular points in the ruins.....[/sp] will investigate that angle
super endgame spoilers dont read!!!
[sp]did the first three steps of the prophecy. cant figure out step four (i am pretty sure i know what the highlighted words mean, maybe i am just doing it in the wrong place??) also i cant enter the spiral gate by pressing up even though it looks pretty open to me. im going to assume thats intentional because if its a bug i will be very sad
[/sp]
it would be cool to figure this out on my own.... i will see if i think of anything tomorrow
cool game.....
i was actually feeling like i might give up and never finish it at one point..... but i got encouraged by the burst of progress i had at the start of today. the last few bosses went by pretty fast....
there are a number of things i feel like i would never have solved if not for helps..... im really impressed vg cleared it on her own.... im kinda sad i wasnt good enough to do that but some of these puzzles.....
im also kinda sad that everyone was at different parts of the game so we didnt get to collaboratively solve puzzles or anything.....
theres one last thing im wondering about....
wheres that damn miracle witch. well i think i know where it is but what do you do
Good job!!
Miracle Witch gave me trouble too. I'm not super sure about this, but I think I needed the Flame Torc equipped before it would even show as hitting. No idea why they would require that and not say anything in the hint, though..........
uhh, for some reason the first time i tried to get miracle witch the thing registered hits but didnt break. like, i probably hit it literally 100+ times, i thought the "puzzle" was you had to hit it a ridiculous number of times and i eventually gave up
this time it broke in 4 hits?? maybe its because of flame torc (i forget if i used it the first time)
oh also....
do you know wheres the app i am missing between enga musica and alert? and do you have any idea where la-mulana 1 & 2 are (xelpud wont give me a hints....)
My bad, I guess it was "it's not breaking, I'll try putting on Flame Torc." That makes more sense that I knew to keep trying there.
Xelpud does have hints about LM1 and LM2. Like Mulbruk, though, maybe he won't give them when you're in the real endgame.
The LM1 hint is: [sp]"Bomb to the bottom-right of a sexy lady!"[/sp] My additional hint: [sp]He's referring to an NPC, not a statue or anything.[/sp]
The LM2 hint is something like: [sp]"Look carefully for the thunder mark in the wall!"[/sp] This could be almost anywhere (unless I forgot a detail of his hint), so if you want the area: [sp]it's in the Underworld.[/sp]
I had to look up the last app (Xelpud never gave me a hint for it), but it's just bombing something with little indication, so eh. I'm pretty sure La-Mulana 1 indicated bombable locations if you whipped them, so I don't know why they changed that.
sequence breaks i didnt know about on my first playthrough (yes im playing through this game again. its a good game)
you can totally make it to the lamp of time chest with just [sp]grapple claw + feather[/sp]. i dont know how i didnt figure this out before
you can solve the golden rock puzzle without the mantra by just [sp]breaking the wall quickly enough, e.g. with the knife[/sp]
unfortunately it doesnt seem possible to skip the roots of yggdrasil guardian, you can get to icefire treetop and get to immortal battlefield from there, but you cant really get anywhere in battlefield because paths are blocked off
I actually "solved" the golden rock by simply doing a jump through the place where it cracks; you get slightly stuck inside it, but it lets you just jump out. It definitely doesn't seem intentional, as I think it would sometimes repair itself after I left.
interesting..... i think i tried that briefly on my first playthrough but didnt get it to work
boss spoilers.....
i think there is some kind of rank system that is supposed to make bosses more difficult as you defeat more of them, but jormungand as the third guardian seems harder than fighting him later..... he only shoots his gun like once per cycle, which i guess is intended to be "easier", but it really just gives you much less time to attack him
