Interesting idea, I believe the philosopher known as "Wizzard" posited a similar question regarding the "Christmas" celebration observed by some countries

Santa can be seen in shopping malls like weeks before Christmas.

Shopping centres are pretty much public property tho, Christmas is the only time Santa won't get done for breaking and entering
