Just playing the demo but the snowman boss is cute.

I like that it's open-source, too.  Need more OSS in gams.  Hope you still make some casholas on it, though.

playing this game it is so cute... i enjoyed customizing with eye mirroring off to make it always look like i was not paying attention
the platforming feels really nice!! i am just getting started so far but i am telling my friends

i finished the game!! it was really fun. thank you for making it!

things in particular which were real memorable for me:

• some of the bgms have really cool funky parts when u wait in an area for a while...
• getting 10x poisoned
• prankster
• the punishment for not getting a perfect score
• the animation for reading a book (since i had a 'w' face it was funny to see the aliasing as it scaled partially)
• grinding a lot in the screen before the jungle town... i'm not sure if this was intended but i needed a lot of stuff to try attacking the capital enemies. finally managed it at heart 6 claw 10, with shield.... careful kiting involved!
• invisible sky platforms on capital outskirts were really fun!
• bosses felt well balanced and very fun to fight
• temple challenges were also really fun!
• the final door was really cool!! and the interaction after that was really really nice to see too  :watermelon: the little guys on the shelves..
• after the first try i bought 10 berries to fight the final boss... it was difficult once i realized i cleansed all the lil guys bc then i couldnt get more valuables.
• using the spell's time dilation abilities in the final boss... (it's very difficult) i managed to clutch it with the last of my health after 21 tries. it was really satisfying.
• the ending part is really cute. the afterword has me thinking about stuff too. i really appreciate this game you've made. thank you for making it.
• wondering if there is new game plus... since it was a second lifetime. but the forest one didn't react, so i don't know if that means "beat the route 4 times."

EDIT: there is new game plus. the enemies have a lot more health!! scary.
i was thinking a bit more and this game does make me think back to the times where i would go on yoyogames and jayisgames and pull up all sorts of metroidvanias to play them and enjoy just what anyone is making. i would want to say it was a simpler time but i was also just so much younger then. i want to Make more things nowadays but.. one thing at a time! at the least i am looking forward to Making as a motivation to make sure i don't run my body into the ground [horrible laughter]

haha yeah!!!! a big priority was to make a bunch of music even for areas that you don't spend a lot of time in. i'm glad you noticed that

Well, i had to look up what "kiting" was, haha. another person i watched play did a lot of griding there. grinding is 100% intended! i think it's fun to grind in this game...

there is not a time "dilation" ability with the spell. the spell causes you to move more slowly while it is being cast...

i definitely want this game to kind of evoke that era... it definitely is a bit more evolved than most stuff you would have seen back then, but it still has a lot of the essence... i'm glad you felt it by playing it.
and yes, take your time making things and be nice to yourself ^_^ <-advice from someone who is impatient and horrible to himself

I like to check out what everybody's been making, but honestly I don't have the gumption to get too far in most games these days.  Sorry!  I know there was a time that I'd be all over it, and I'm sure many others still will be.

i feel this. it's pretty hard to find motivation to play new games these days :U

Started playing this week, up to the third boss!

Here's my igua, with a lil fringe and hat hair

• The enemy animations are incredibly good and characterful! Stuff like the way the string moves on the first enemy, and the wobbling hair of boss three
• I love how flexible the creator is, being able to use the horn, tail etc more or less wherever you want
• Had to grind for claw upgrades for boss two, think i was at claw level 5. The boss fights are great and i've found my problem is when bosses have no invuln periods it makes me want to be way too greedy and i just waltz into all the attacks lol
• While i grinded, i heard the jungle music a lot. It has a really triumphant feel. Same energy as On To Grasstown from cavestory. good track
• I don't think i've played a platformer bump combat game before. The sneezing angel enemy had a really fun attack pattern. The volcano enemy with the poison arrows has been much trickier to defeat consistently!
• Very good variety in the temple doors. Think my fave so far was the one with the ball and the spikes
• Got pranked real good

Aw thanks! I'm glad that you noticed them :-) I like working on that kind of thing a lot...

I really like all the weird stuff people can accomplish with them... Before I released the demo I was going to have a more restrictive cap for the positioning of a lot of things but I'm glad I left it out!

I'm glad you like the fights! I was really channeling my Fromsoftware experiences for them... I like grinding in this game, haha.

Finished the game this weekend!

Little details like the shafts of light and the reflective wall in jungle bar will always make me go Whoa!

Last boss was my fave, felt like they had a counter to all my attacks and had a really satisfying 'dance' to the fight

Fun cleanup mechanic at the end. i left the grinding spot in the jungle til last, which worked out because i probably wouldn't have found the secret area without the clue from the jungle bigua.

I was curious whether you could skip straight to the city immediately after getting the jungle blessing on a fresh file, fun to see that you can and that you can open the way back with the lever behind boss 3. wondering if that has any speedrun potential - maybe getting the spell early to make the boss fights easier?

I'm struggling to write my thoughts r.e. the afterword but I had a lot of fun with IguaRPG and glad you made it!

Off the top of my head, I think it really only lets you do things in a funny order. If someone figures out a speedrun advantage I'd love to see it though :-)
