I had a dentist appointment today and got generally high marks.  Then I bought Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 (https://www.gog.com/en/game/mortal_kombat_123) from GOG and I still have no idea how to play this freaking game, even after 25 years.  I remember once I figured out a special move for Sonya and spammed it to victory, but surely there's a better way.

retro games are cool though some feel a bit clunky when i try to play them nowadays. i know very little about street fighter though.

i was wondering what my next "life goal" will be since i'm almost able to afford a house and not sure what i'll do after. do people normally have major goals they work towards? is it okay to not have any?

Career progress, improving mental health, finding a life partner, traveling, upgrading your home or vehicle.  These seem like the usual go-tos.  I don't see why you need to have a goal though.

I'd settle for beating Scorpion who freaking cheats

nah, the AI literally cheats (reads your inputs, gets out moves faster than it should be able to) so story mode wise cheesing is the way to go. even against other humans it was made before the era of real fighting game design (combos, etc) so it's not particularly competitive.

re: topic - im still in kind of a transition phase of my life (living at my parent's place, bumming a part-time job, trying to get a real software dev job) spent like 2 months working on a website to add web dev to my resume but massively hyper-fixated on it so even now i cant help but to do maintenance on it rather than actually apply for jobs. Soon™ though. also hoping to have another game dev arc soon ofc

No major updates from me I think. Just always keeping busy with music and game projects! Biggest thing is I kind of even more gave up on having a social media presence after everyone switched to the latest pointless platform. I think it is best for me not to really participate at this point. (Sorry to anyone having fun with that)

Projects, projects, projects!!! Gotta have your own!!! Oh and maybe learning to cook new recipes. I am now able to "cook" "stir fry" (Cook rice in a pot while frozen vegetables and spam heat up in an oily, seasoned skillet) with 70% success rate. And after you've completed every project and learned every recipe you have to get level 99 in all stats in runescape

I'm kinda glad I never got into the whole "social media" thing. Had a facebook as a kid (when I was underage for it, ironically) but stopped using it. Platforms like Twitter just seems destroying to peoples' mental wellbeing and I honestly don't see why any individual would use it. Corporations, sure - platform to advertise and gain PR points, but from what I've seen individuals just suffer there.

I must use Twitter differently than every other person.  I check it once or twice a week, view my timeline to see what the dozen people I follow have twooted, and then close the tab.  I disabled all the retweets and liked tweets.  To me it's basically just a less interesting RSS feed, though I rarely feel soul destroyed after reading it.

I don't even know how one "browses" Twitter.  It's not like there's a hierarchy to navigate.  You just click on related tweets to get around?

Congrats on your new home!  My purchase came together surprisingly quickly.  I went from offer to keys in maybe two weeks.  I didn't get a realtor so it was just a matter of dealing with theirs.  Lawyers did their thing, documents were signed mostly digitally.

I didn't do an inspection because it's a condo in a well-maintained building, and a lot of common pain points (roof, hot water boiler) were external to my unit anyway.  Still a bit risky, but it worked out.  Though six years later the dishwasher leaked and destroyed my floors, so that was neat.  Don't skimp on homeowners insurance -- it saved my butt.

I don't know how to design games.  I just have strong opinions on them after they're made.

to get game ideas i just play other games. was playing deltarune ch3/4 and like a million idears came into my head

that being said i dont make games bc too distracted by other life stuff atm. Soon™ though

in terms of making "100 cute games" i think you have to be good at scope management + Just Making Something as opposed to trying to be very perfectionist. esp cuz producitvity in general is very momentum based. doing a little bit of something is a huge step up from doing nothing at all
