im not rly but itll probably be kinda cool. its not for like another 4-5 hours or something but i thought id mention it here if anyone didnt kno & wants 2 wantch. btw SDGQ stands for "summer games done quick" and its a live streamed video game speed running marathon, and Jumper Two is a classic indie game from my childhood by matthew thorson, its known for being the first indie platformer to feature the "wall jumping" mechanic.
-
thangks for the heads up XOXOXO
-
Is there a link to watch that one specifically? Or is it all just one big stream.
I want to have somebody else make me feel inferior about my Jumper skills.
-
it's all one big stream (shown on gamesdonequick.com (https://gamesdonequick.com/)) but there'll be a timestamped twitch link after it's finished and possibly a youtube video if previous speedrun marathons are to go by. i'll post a link if i see one
-
Cheers, thanks.

Learn something new everyday.
-
Also is there a Jumper Two community that was never associated with Matt's forums? ???
-
i dont think so it seems like the sgdq runner is the only active speedrunner for j2
-
So he'll have an empty couch?
-
its starting gamesdonequick.com (http://gamesdonequick.com)
-
theres one person on the couch...
-
they couldnt remember princesses name..... fucking fake gamer boys
-
woha the couch person sequenced one of the midis in the game
didnt say which one though
-
Giant cursor on the screen aghhhhh
-
yeha i guess their screen capture thing doesnt let u hide the cursor or something or they werent informed that this is a cursor-on-screen run
wow i either didnt know or forgot about that 7-4 skip thats cute
-
wow the runner hasnt beaten the original jumper smh
-
I wonder if he'll do the secret stages.
-
Well shit, he beat 9-2 in one go.
-
i think there was a donation incentive for secret stages but idk if it was met
-
this man is calling the boss the conductor absolutely no respect for the lore
-
Maybe they'll finally explain the J2 ending
-
pfft 31 deaths...... get minmay up here next year
-
But he'll die once, on purpose of course, just to show it's all working as intended.
-
That was like an 8 year old reference good job if you got it.
-
but seriously that was a cute run good job "hornlitz" :honeydew: it had more deaths than the wr run i watched but the movement seemed smoother
-
oh the "celeste" game thats up next is also a mattgame
i totally forgot that was the name of a mattgame i even played that game
-
Maybe they'll finally explain the J2 ending
Periodic reminder that the explanation is "Jumper 3 originally had a ridiculously overdramatic plot which ended with Ogmo getting impaled by a doomsday machine and being sent back in time, but he changed his mind by the time he made the finished Jumper 3."
-
Is that from an article? Don't remember this.
-
yeha i didnt know either that he ever revealed any info about the original j3 ending!! wow
-
I think he might have told me over MSN or something, since I did some testing for him for a time. Don't ask me how that happened. But I think I've posted about that before (which is why I said periodic reminder).
-
i mean i knew j3 had an overdramatic plot that got scrapped but the specific detail of the time travelling doomsday machine is completely new to me
i cant believe i finally know why ogmo on the spike after all these years
-
AND i finally know whether ogmo lives or dies at the end
i forget what i argued for in that thread matt posted
-
wish the original j3 plot wasnt scrapped it wouldve even surpassed joogle in epicness.....
-
Did someone figure out the vod timestamp yet?
-
YOOOOOOOO I MISSED THE J2 SPEEDRAN
-
wish the original j3 plot wasnt scrapped it wouldve even surpassed joogle in epicness.....

Okay I found the chatlog. He said he was planning to make a topic, so clearly it's fine to post this, and of course he'll tell me to take it down if it's not because he definitely visits this forum.
Matt: wow i can't believe i just had to defend myself for releasing J3...
vgmodo? how weak: lol
vgmodo? how weak: i wonder if it would be different if you never released that extremely old demo
vgmodo? how weak: that was exactly j2
Matt: yeah hmm
Matt: oh well
Matt: it is what it is, they can deal with it :P
vgmodo? how weak: you still haven't addressed my question about the old plot or do you not want to mention anything
Matt: yeah i was thinking of making a topic about it
Matt: the old plot was too convulted
vgmodo? how weak: i figured
Matt: i realized early on in this version of J3's development that jumper was originally conceived to be about simplicity
vgmodo? how weak: j2 is pretty much making fun of itself until the ending that makes no sense
Matt: so i scraped all the crazy plot ideas and complicated tiles by BBaller and the potion idea and just went with what was simple and felt jumper-ish
vgmodo? how weak: was infinite castle separate from this because it seems pretty similar
Matt: it was an earlier version of this
Matt: it still had the potions
Matt: but it again just got too complicated
Matt: i kept overcomplicating things
Matt: it was non-linear
Matt: sort of - after sector 1 you unlocked 2 and 3, then after beating either of those you unlocked 4 and 5, etc
Matt: yeah i think I'll make a topic on the evolution of J3
Matt: basically the idea for the ending of J3 was that it came down to Ogmo being captured and was going to be used to power this doomsday machine thing
Matt: that could travel through time, and control stuff
Matt: so he sacrificed himself by somehow destroying it, and in the process gets impaled on a piece of it and sent back in time
Matt: so complex haha
vgmodo? how weak: not to mention ogmo isn't really the sacrificial type
vgmodo? how weak: although maybe he should be since he always respawns
Matt: haha
Matt: yeah it made little to no sense
Matt: and didnt fit in with the jumper style either
Matt: too melodramatic

Did someone figure out the vod timestamp yet?
whoops i missed the speedrun last night, here's the vod: http://twitch.tv/gamesdonequick/v/76412783?t=3h03m30s

-
When he died like seven times in the last caves level and then three times in the first factory level I turned this shit off.
-
Also how is he able catch the corner in 5-4 but didn't even try it in 9-4.
