I like Dragon Quest a lot! I love the tone of the games, the character and enemy designs, the episodic storytelling as you travel from village to village.
Turns out that I like Dragon Quest Builders a lot too!
Dragon Quest Builders has you rebuild villages in a fallen world to their former glory. On the way you'll be attracting villagers that'll move into your settlements and give you requests, e.g. building particular types of rooms, e.g. bedrooms, kitchens, workshops, or exploring the world, or defending your village from attack.
You follow a definite storyline and you always have concrete quests and sidequests to be getting on with. There's often a lot of flexibility with the building tasks, letting you happily add your creative flair and make your own perfect village. The worlds are hand-crafted so that as you explore you'll find definite landmarks and events scattered around.
I kinda don't know what to say, other than that the Dragon Quest formula works surprisingly well when combined with minecraft-style block building!
Instead, enjoy this video tour of my village midway through the second chapter of the game!
It has fun writing, it's pretty well paced with every chapter feeling fairly different, good dragon quest music! Looking forward to a sequel! :grape:
