We have to go back to the prehistoric era to get our fricking Power Wrist.

Yeah I vaguely recall us doing that, at least. Just not making it very far.

Okay I found the chatlog. He said he was planning to make a topic, so clearly it's fine to post this, and of course he'll tell me to take it down if it's not because he definitely visits this forum.

Matt: wow i can't believe i just had to defend myself for releasing J3...
vgmodo? how weak: lol
vgmodo? how weak: i wonder if it would be different if you never released that extremely old demo
vgmodo? how weak: that was exactly j2
Matt: yeah hmm
Matt: oh well
Matt: it is what it is, they can deal with it :P
vgmodo? how weak: you still haven't addressed my question about the old plot or do you not want to mention anything
Matt: yeah i was thinking of making a topic about it
Matt: the old plot was too convulted
vgmodo? how weak: i figured
Matt: i realized early on in this version of J3's development that jumper was originally conceived to be about simplicity
vgmodo? how weak: j2 is pretty much making fun of itself until the ending that makes no sense
Matt: so i scraped all the crazy plot ideas and complicated tiles by BBaller and the potion idea and just went with what was simple and felt jumper-ish
vgmodo? how weak: was infinite castle separate from this because it seems pretty similar
Matt: it was an earlier version of this
Matt: it still had the potions
Matt: but it again just got too complicated
Matt: i kept overcomplicating things
Matt: it was non-linear
Matt: sort of - after sector 1 you unlocked 2 and 3, then after beating either of those you unlocked 4 and 5, etc
Matt: yeah i think I'll make a topic on the evolution of J3
Matt: basically the idea for the ending of J3 was that it came down to Ogmo being captured and was going to be used to power this doomsday machine thing
Matt: that could travel through time, and control stuff
Matt: so he sacrificed himself by somehow destroying it, and in the process gets impaled on a piece of it and sent back in time
Matt: so complex haha
vgmodo? how weak: not to mention ogmo isn't really the sacrificial type
vgmodo? how weak: although maybe he should be since he always respawns
Matt: haha
Matt: yeah it made little to no sense
Matt: and didnt fit in with the jumper style either
Matt: too melodramatic

I think he might have told me over MSN or something, since I did some testing for him for a time. Don't ask me how that happened. But I think I've posted about that before (which is why I said periodic reminder).

244
Maybe they'll finally explain the J2 ending
Periodic reminder that the explanation is "Jumper 3 originally had a ridiculously overdramatic plot which ended with Ogmo getting impaled by a doomsday machine and being sent back in time, but he changed his mind by the time he made the finished Jumper 3."

I looked at the Jumper 2 run submission when I saw it on there, and it seemed kind of amateurish considering the time trial times people got. Also they know about wall crawling, but don't know some tricks like rapidly switching between left and right to trick follower blocks.

Somehow they took Joogle Quality and made it bad.

I know this may come as a shock.

It's mostly aggressively mediocre, the worst sin of all. (Especially considering its position as a Kickstarter game.) With some exceptions like launch issues (it DID launch on like 8 things at once), some frustrating gameplay/bad design, and terrible cutscenes + voice acting that no one wanted.

They also messed up good ideas like the robot masters helping in levels after you save them (which Joogle totally did first with the keys in the final area, by the way) by all of them being really annoying, such as the one who I don't think has a single line without an ice pun. That's my Mighty No. 9 Summary By What I've Seen People Play.

Yeah, that's bad, but people would zero in on Inafune even if they hadn't said that. They already mistook him as The One Person Responsible For Making Mega Man Great, so now everyone just figures he's the person to put all blame onto too.

Cute Discussion / Re: any one hear of "homestuck"?
« on: April 19, 2016, 11:34:14 PM »
Technically it's not so much a "Homestuck game" as it is a game set in the same world with trolls and some references to The Big Homestuck. So Homestuck doesn't necessarily imply much about what the game would be like.

Of course, Hussie did promise to Try Some Novel Things In The Medium Of Adventure Games, but that's also what he said about Namco High as a visual novel. And that turned out to be an extremely linear game where your only options are "okay who should I talk to," except for [HOMESTUCK SPOILER CHARACTER??] being all meta. Which tells me Hussie wasn't actually very familiar with visual novels and the ridiculous stuff they've already done.

Time-Warped After Chopping My Stag Beetle. Which is now blocked on YouTube in the US, because YouTube sucks.

I have no idea who that is, but apparently he's a YouTube LPer whose everything is deleted now. But I guess Nico reuploads are still around.

You might be able to do it in GM by drawing on a surface and saving that? That shouldn't be limited by screen size.
